Conor Power, a West Cork resident and West Waterford native, has been a leading voice in Irish travel writing for over 20 years. With a background in linguistics and marketing, he works as a journalist, writer and broadcaster. At Immrama, he will discuss his travels and his debut novel “Hurling 1810” (published October 2025), a historical fiction exploring a little-known period in Irish history, capturing the political and social tensions of the time and the early game of hurling-at-goals.

Adi Roche

Adi Roche, Humanitarian and Environmental ActivistAdi Roche will take the audience on a powerful journey through 50 years of humanitarian and environmental activism — from her early days as a volunteer with the Irish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament to founding Chernobyl Children International in 1990/1991.

She will reflect on the charity’s work supporting children and families affected by the Chernobyl disaster, including projects in Belarus, Ukraine, and the United States. Her talk will focus on environmental responsibility, the legacy of Chernobyl, and the state of the world today.

Carsten Krieger

Carsten Krieger. photographer and author.Carsten Krieger is a photographer and author based in County Clare. He has published more than 20 books on Ireland’s landscape, nature, heritage and history, including Ireland’s “Wild Atlantic Way” and “Wild Ireland”, both shortlisted for the An Post Irish Book Awards. His latest book, “10,000 Years Deep – The Story of Ireland’s Peatlands,” was published in 2025. At Immrama, Carsten will present From the Burren to the Peatlands, tracing his journey from his first visit to Ireland to a 20-year publishing career, and exploring the inspiration behind his latest book.

Peter Murtagh

Peter Murtagh JournalistAged 70, retired Irish Times journalist Peter Murtagh rode his motorbike from Tierra del Fuego at the bottom of South America to Alaska at the top of North America. Alone and for eight months, he covered 44,000 kilometres. Reading from his best-selling book, From “Tip to Top”, and with the help of slides, Peter will talk about the sights he saw and the people he met along the way.

Paddy Barry

Paddy Barry SailorCork born Paddy Barry, now living in Dun Laoghaire, is a retired Civil Engineer; married to Mary, with four grown children. He has sailed and climbed in the Arctic and Antarctic; including a Shackleton small boat repeat and two years in Siberia. In 2024, ‘coming ashore’ for a change, Paddy with musician Brendan Begley, did a road journey from Baile Na bPoc, Kerry to Mongolia. It is of this travel through Central Asia that he will speak to us in Lismore.

Geraldine Osborne

Geraldine Osborne AuthorGeraldine Osborne has travelled to some of the most remote and untouched regions of the world, undertaking a series of extraordinary journeys. These include crossing the uninhabited Chilean Altiplano with her artist husband, Danny Osborne, and seven llamas; traversing High Arctic sea ice by dog team with their young children; and later working on active volcanoes in Guatemala and Hawaii. Each expedition became a shared exploration, documented through writing, photography, and film. Now retired from medicine and living on the Beara Peninsula, she has turned to writing. “Somewhere Cold” is her debut book.
